You can touch the life of a child who feels forgotten. Many millions of children overseas are victims of poverty, armed conflict, family breakdown, natural disaster, or illness. A shoebox of gifts from you can impact the life of a child with such joy that they will remember it for the rest of their life.
The Operation Christmas Child charity invites you to their promotion stand. The local volunteers will be in the Centre Wednesday, 23rd October to Saturday, 26th October, 9am to 4pm.
You are welcome to a “How to Pack a Shoebox” leaflet. If you can’t come in, then please look at operationchristmaschild.org.uk for information. You will also find there many videos of the children’s joy.
You can use your own shoebox (no larger than 12″ or 30cm on the longest side). Please wrap the top and bottom separately. Or if you visit our display, we will offer you a free pre-printed box. (After the promotion, they will be available from Costa Coffee in the Centre for 50p each.)
Your completed shoebox can be taken to Costa Coffee in the Centre. A child who brings in a shoebox gift will receive a free Baby Chino and a biscuit.
The shoeboxes will be distributed by churches overseas as an unconditional gift, as an expression of God’s love. The U.K. sends shoebox gifts to about 11 countries in Africa, Central Asia, Middle East, and Eastern Europe.
THE FINAL DATE TO BRING YOUR BOX IS MONDAY, 18TH NOVEMBER.
Local volunteer Susan Parker welcomes your call or email if you are a group sending shoeboxes, or are a group that would like to send shoeboxes, or would like to know more about local fundraisers and Packing Parties (using donations to pack shoebox gifts), or about volunteering.
